Does this rose rooting method work?

Cut a rose stem about the diameter of a pencil. Cut off any blooms. Get a glass of water. Put the rose stem into the glass of water and set it on a window sill filled with bright but indirect light. Change the water every two or three days. Wait. When the rose roots, plant it in the garden.
Does this rose rooting method work?
It works really well exept when the rose stem is woody peel of the woodyness with a knife, another method would be cut a rose stem off and put it in some rooting gel or put it in rooting hormone and lay the stem on the soil and you will have roots.
Reply:I've known some who did it and it worked. I have tried it, but it didn't work for me.
Reply:it does maybe 40% of the time.
Reply:it takes patience but it does work.add a little nitrosol to the water or a hormone gel may speed things up a bit.still change your water atleast once a week as the nitrosol may cause the water to go green faster
