What do you get if you win a bowl, like the Rose Bowl. Is it all glory or does it help standings or both?

Watching the Rose Bowl. Don't get exactly what it is all about since the BCS Championship matchup is already set.
What do you get if you win a bowl, like the Rose Bowl. Is it all glory or does it help standings or both?
Anytime a game is televised, the school and football program gets a piece of the action. Bowl games attract more viewers, which attracts larger advertisers, which results in more money to share.



It's pride for the team and players as well as potential NFL exposure for the players. Their value rises if part of a championship or bowl winning team. Look at Leinhart , Bush and Young. Big names and money because of college, but not exactly top performances in the NFL.
