When to prune my Rose of Sharons?

When it the best time to prune these shrubs? They just finished flowering.
When to prune my Rose of Sharons?
Rose of Sharon blooms on new wood, so prune the plants in the winter while they are dormant. They will put on new growth in the spring and buds will develop on that new growth.
Reply:Mine just finished blooming, too, and I plan to prune them back this weekend. I'm in zone 9 and we don't usually get hard freezes. But the answerer is right above, they do bloom on new wood so you can prune them anytime during the late fall or winter while they are dormant.
