Anybody know of a recipe for rose hip tea?

I have heard of it. Is it really made from the every day variety rose(s)?
Anybody know of a recipe for rose hip tea?
Rose Hip Tea

1 tea bag

1 tablespoon (15 mL) dried rose hips

3-4 whole cloves

Sugar or honey to taste

1 cup (240 mL) boiling water

Instructions

Steep tea bag, rose hips and cloves in boiling water for five minutes. Remove hips and cloves. Reheat if desired. Sweeten to taste with sugar or honey. Makes one serving.
Reply:A natural tea you can prepare yourself, with ingredients from your own garden.

You need:

The best roses to use are the traditional types, for example, Rosa Rugosa.

Method:

Pick ripe rose hips after the first autumn frost, when they've turned bright orange or red. The frost helps sweeten the flavour.

Trim off the stem and blossom ends, cut the hips in two and remove the seeds, then wash well.

Place the hips in a single layer on a drying screen and allow to dry completely. Store them in an air-tight jar in a cool, dark place.

Hips may be used whole or slightly broken.

Pour boiling water over the hips and allow to steep for 2 minutes, then strain the mixture before drinking
Reply:Rosehips are the "fruit" of the rose plant. I wouldn't mess with doing it yourself. You don't know what pesticides are on the roses. Just go to a health food store or co-op and buy the dried rosehips. Steep in a tea ball in hot water. You can also buy rosehip teabags in some places.
