I am planting a peace rose bush. I just feed it about a week ago. I don't want to throw it in shock any more

than it will anyway. I need to know about how much, inexpensive compost or peet moss I need to use and how do i need to care for it to get it established. Any help will be appreciated.

You can mix Sphagnum Peat with garden soil or buy regular Rose Soil. The main thing is that they need at least a gallon of water every day, per plant, and need to be in a sunny location.
Reply:DEDENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE ROOTS --------DIG A HOLE ABOUT 3 TIMES THE SIZE OF THE ROOTS SPREAD OUT AND 4 - 6 " DEEPER . FILL THE EXTRA DEPTH WITH HALF AND HALF PEAT MOSS ( TO RETAIN WATER ) , ORGANIC COMPOST ( TO FEED THE BUSH ) . AND WATER HEAVILY ( MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO AIR POCKETS LEFT TO DRY AND KILL THE ROOTS .) NICE CHOICE THAT AND THE TROPICANA ARE 2 OF MY FAVORITES -----ALTHOUGH WE HAVE AROUND 50 OF ALL TYPES .
Reply:the peace rose is a very nice rose. i would try putting a little pest moss around it. i use ripe bananas or banana peels around my roses. i also open my used tea bags around the roots.
Reply:You don't need any peat moss etc. Dig your hole, mix in some bagged garden compost. Make hole a reasonable depth and width. Plant plant with 2 inches of stem showing below the graft (lump on stem branches come from) Water plant in well. Cover with hay or compost as mulch. Make sure it is kept moist, but do not over water check moisture with your finger if unsure. don't water if damp.

Water with Seasol (or other sea weed extact, available from garden centres). This stops transplant shock and encourages roots to grow. DO NOT use fertilizers at this stage - will burn or kill plant.

Once the plant is established fertilize regularly and keep the water up and you should have an excellent rose bush.

Roses are tough as nails, and very hard to kill when established. Dont water the leaves when watering, water at the base this helps beat fungal diseases.
