I received a potted miniature rose bush for Valentines Day, how do I care for it until I plant this spring?

Also what is the best way to plant a miniature rosebush outside? I live in northwest Ohio.

I love the miniature rose bushes.

Keep your plant in a warm sunny window, but away from drafts. Keep the soil moist but don't let the pot sit in water. And trim away the blossoms as they fade.

Here are a couple links. The first with more information about caring for your rose bush indoors. The second with information about planting outdoors.

Enjoy!

Roses like full sun and keep then moist, how to tell when you need to water put finger to first knuckle if it feels dry then water, When planting your rose pick a open sunny spot, but sheltered from strong winds , i hope this helps.

Reply:Hi,miniature rose are one of my favorites.they need a minimum of four good hours of sun a day. and keep them watered. they don't like wet feet so good drainage is a must if you want, they do well as potted plants or in hanging baskets.for more information and care one of my favorite site,s are www. johnsrosegarden.org.enjoy!!
Reply:My grandma grew miniature roses for many years. We would all buy her them for valentines day and her birthday in April.

She would keep them in house until May and then planted them outside in large shallow pots or window boxes. She would use Miracle Grow potting mix (not potting soil) and add about 2 or 3 roses per pot. Water in good and do not let plants sit in water ever!! That will end your roses life quickly.

She kept roses on her deck...they got dappled morning sun only and she used Miracle grow for roses ever 3 weeks. Also she kept them deadheaded .They lasted all summer.

Good luck!
Reply:Grace gave good advice/links. Keep moist, warm, sunny. Don't rot the roots. Give roots plenty of space to spread out (large, fortified pot).
