Are Jack and Rose fictional on the Titanic?

I am writing an essay for my English assignment about the Titanic. Any facts would be very usefull and I was woundering if anyone know's if there actaully were people on the ship called Jack Dawson and Rose Dewitbekator?

Are Jack and Rose fictional on the Titanic?
They are fictional characters, however most of the other details from the movie stay pretty true to reality.

Reply:The movie titantic had real parts and fake parts. Unfortunately the story line of Jack and Rose was very much fake.

There were many survivors of the disaster who were interviewed. Try searching for survivor statements.
Reply:Yes they are but some of the people were real like cow.
Reply:Well, it is based on a true story, but those are fictional names.
Reply:i believe Ruth, Rose's mom is the only one that is not. I know the name is not fictional, I'm not sure about her actual character. That's what i heard somewhere.
