No 1 from previous light
No 2 to next light
No 3 to switch
so far no problem, I think I know where these go but there's also No 4 that it is a Three Core and Earth that might feed either the shaving light or air extractor.
My problem is that I don't know where the Three Core and Earth goes. Where do the Blue, Yellow, Green and Red go?
There are not enough slots in the Ceiling Rose so they'll have to share a hole with one of the other cables, which one it should be?
In case you wonder: no, I didn't make a note of how the connections looked like before disconnecting everything. Bugger!
Thanks.
Connecting Three Core and Earth into Ceiling Rose?
The three core and earth will feed the Extractor fan more than likely.
Normally the connections are:
Red: Permanant Live Put into the "loop in" central connection
Yellow: Switch Live Put this in the live terminal at the side of the ceiling rose
Blue: Neuatral Put it in the neutral side connection
Green: Earth Put it in the earth connection
If the fan is a timed unit and it stays on after you have turned the light switch off youve done the job right, if not swap the positions of the yellow and red.
Reply:(Two cores, plus earth in each wire, right...)
(1) from previous light will be the Live %26amp; Neutral %26amp; cpc (earth)
(2) connects Live, Neutral and earth to next light
(3) Connects live to the switch and returns the switched live.
You connect the light fitting between Switched live %26amp; neutral.
Hopefully you can get the lights operating correctly ....
No shortcut on the 3-core. You'll have to open the extractor to see which of (Red/ Yellow /Blue) is connected to which (live, switched live, neutral) terminal(s) in the fan. There isn't an absolute convention on this....
Reply:There is a diagram of what it may look like half way down on this page- http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum1...
