My rose plant leaves are becoming pale %26amp; even fungus is destroying the leaves.?
Without seeing your plants it is hard to tell what might be wrong but since you have said they are pale I have a couple of ideas. Roses can suffer from powdery mildew if their leaves become too wet over long periods of time. Try to avoid getting their leaves wet when watering them and purchase a commercial fungicide to combat this condition. You can take a leaf into a local garden center and ask the nursery person to confirm this diagnosis and they will recommend an appropriate treatment for your area.
Another issue that can crop up with roses that can cause pale leaves is chlorosis or a lack of iron. This is a condition of the soil that, ultimately, effects the iron levels in the plant, causing a pernicious anemia. Chloritic plants will have leaves that display increasingly yellowed veins until the entire leaf becomes yellow and stunted. There are many commercial solutions available that can be mixed and applied to the soil for absorption by the plant's roots. Your local garden center is a good source for these products.
This is also a good time of year , after pruning your roses to be on the look out for the emergence of insect pests such as apids and mealy worms. Aphids can be controlled very nicely by lady bugs and these days many garden centes are selling beneficial insects like these. Mealy worms are easily controled with insecticidal soap such as the one made by Safer company.
As with any garden chemical be sure to use only when no beneficial insects are present.
Reply:rose,s are one of the most purchased plants world wide. unfortunately there also one of the most susceptible to disease's.a good web sight for information is www.johnsrosegarden.org..the site also will lead you to many other good sites.it,s the one i like to use.if you want a real education free!go to your local garden nursery and ask some questions.i have always found them more then happy to help you out. don,t bother with the big home improvement centers most of the help they have is limited in knowledge.hit the growers their the ones who can give you the right information..good luck.
Reply:Spray them with fungicide..Sounds as they do not have proper drainage or you are watering them too much....

Reply:Try to get some garden food stakes, and make sure thier are no afeds on them they look like little black and white specs. If there are afeds on them spray them off and use a garden bug killer thats safe for flowers. Good Luck. Ps. Also make sure there not getting to much sun it can caouse them to welt as so can extreme cold or hot wheather.
