Under wat physical conditions do rose grow in?
Well, the first 'garden' cultivated rose was in fact grown in China 5,000 years ago and roses will tolerate a wide range of climatic conditions. If Yunnan has a temperate or warm summer climate then most varieties of rose will withstand cold winters. But you would need to tell me what your year round temperatures are.

Roses will happily grow in most soils with one exception-they and in common with many other plants will not tolerate their roots being 'drowned' so they need well drained soil.

Whatever the soil type, they need plenty of rotted manure/organic material when planting and the same or a fertilizer in the spring (one high in potash) and just as they are coming out of their dormant period-with a second feed midway through the flowering season.

They will flower better out of strong winds and if your summer tends to be rainy then choose varieties that tend to have small flowers otherwise the blooms will 'ball' and turn brown/rot with the rainwater retention.
Reply:Yunnan is a very large area. it has mountains that reach 20,000 feet in height. and it also has very low lands like the mekong delta. so depending on where your going to do this in Yunnan. it could be rather dificult to grow them. there is some very fertile grounds in parts of the yunnan region that would make for excelent roses growing. with tempert climate and a natrualy high levels of humis and pot ash. and nitrogen richsoils. if your lucky to find one these spots youll be in the mecca of roses growing centers
