What could be the reason the blooms on my rose bushes are so small?

I only put them in about 2 mos. ago, and they seem to be thriving, except for some small areas on a couple of them, that have grey spots on them, that are causing those leaves to wither. I have checked the undersides of the leaves, and don't see any insects.

That sounds like poudery mildew. It's common where I live and it causes the leaves and buds to wither and curl and twist. You can buy a spray at your local lawn and garden center for it. You can also try to feed with "Bayer all in one". It feeds and protects against deseases and insects. You will still need to spray the deseased plants and prune away the infected areas. Be sure to remove the clippings and throw them away. If you leave them in the area they will spread the desease. As a rule of thumb, healthy plants do not get sick as easily as stressed ones. I feed my roses with blood meal, bone meal and epsom salts. They bloom like crazy and hardly ever have any problems. Be sure also to water thoroughly and let them dry out a bit in between waterings. Roses like loose well drained soil and frequent feedings. You can also give them a foliar feeding with Monty's Joy Juice. It's a great product and roses do really great with it.
Reply:Also to add to the mildew answer, these are young plants. If they were poor quality, poorly planted, poor variety, poorly fertilized and watered, etc.......they won't be big flowered. Then again..........they could be a small flowered rose.

Still, it takes several years for roses to get strong enough to produce the big blooms you are looking for.
Reply:Lack of proper watering will cause small blooms, and premature wilting of the petals.
Reply:Sounds like they need more water. Roses need lots of water.
