It is late in the year but could not be done earlier.
What is the correct way to prune rose bushes?
Cut at an angle close to the next set of five leaves and be sure to use the correct pruners so you don't cause damage to the stem. Also use clean pruners (soaked in some bleach water) to prevent diease from occuring.
Reply:I did mine last weekend, it's been so warm I just got lazy.
It's not that big a deal if you are in a strong climate, I plan to prune them back hard again later in the year when we move, to dig them up and move them.
Just make sure they are a few seasons old so they don't shock.
I've actually pruned my back mid-summer due to a serious case of black spot. They came back strong!
Reply:You should prune them just above a bud and remove all dead limbs and cut at an angle when you do
Reply:I just pruned mine about 2 weeks ago.
