How do you transplant cut rose stems? Once they start to get leaves, how do you place them in dirt?

I cut the stems from some roses I got. Before they died, I cut off the tops and the bottoms and put them in water. I started seeing little leaves. Now what do I do?

Wait until you see roots, then pot them. wow, rooting roses in water. I've never had luck that way. Normally you dip the cut end in rooting hormone and put in light soil. Then when new leaves grow you know the roots have developed and they are ready for planting in the ground.

What a lucky gardener you are!
Reply:put them in a pot with some good potting soil.. keep them in the pot until they are full and healthy.. your roots will start to form, keep them in the pot till next spring.. next summer fertilize and water them well.
